Cultural Celebrations
Each year we celebrate key cultural festivals within our Bethany community: Chinese New Year, Deeparaya (a combined celebration for Deepavali and Hari Raya) and Christmas. Our celebrations usually include a concert of performances by our students, clients and staff. We also share a special festive lunch - sponsored by generous Bethany supporters from the wider community. Sometimes there are games or other special activities as well.
To celebrate Chinese New Year, our concert is focused on Chinese dances and drumming. We are very privileged to have the Teluk Intan Lion Dance group come to perform a special Chinese New Year Lion Dance for us, on site at the Bethany Home school campus.
At our Deeparaya celebration (for Deepavali and Hari Raya) we hold a concert focussed on Indian and Malay dances.
At the end of the school year we celebrate Christmas with a concert including Christmas songs and a Christmas play. We usually also have a Carol Singing group, who go to visit and sing carols in the homes of local residents.
