Sports Day
Our annual Sports Day is held in Teluk Intan and students practice various sporting activities for many weeks beforehand at a local school oval and on our own Bethany grounds.
All children can participate with events such as beanbag throwing, shot put, discus, 4 x 100 relay and other sprint events. The prize giving is a special time for the children, as not only the winners get prizes but also a medal of participation for all who attend.
Paralympics and Special Olympics
In 2004 the Special Olympics Perak 1st Unified Team Competition was held, initiated by Bethany Home. This was one of the outcomes of our participation in the Special Olympic Nature Unified Sports in Sabah in 2003.
This Special Olympics event has continued to be run by Bethany Home and many teams participate from areas such as Brunei, Kuala Lumpur, Taiping and Ipoh. The athletes have a great time "enjoying each other's company" and team events. The escorts for athletes are able-bodied people from the community and some family members.
We continue to be very involved in both Paralympics and Special Olympics events. Representatives from Bethany Home frequently compete in local, state, national and international meets.
